Thomas House of Hope formerly known as the Helderberg Street People Centre, started as a soup kitchen and gradually evolved into a day centre for homeless adults. By embracing our guidance and partaking in our programs, clients are one step closer to regaining their self-worth, their faith and their independence.
Clients are given an opportunity to regain their dignity and to achieve healing and wholeness by participating in a token exchange program. With this program, clients are required to work on prescribed and partner NPO projects, as well as participate in group activities at the centre earning tokens per activity. Tokens can be exchanged for amongst others food, clothing, ID cards, toiletries, laundry services and lockers.
